Welcome to the AskBNI-Higgins Accelerator Program
A plain-English guide to growing your BNI chapter with smart, simple tools.

What is this? This program helps your BNI networking group grow faster by making it easy to invite the right people, reconnect with past visitors, and have better one-on-one meetings β€” all with ready-to-send messages and a clear plan.

πŸ€” The Problem This Solves

Most BNI members want to invite people and give referrals β€” but life gets busy and it's hard to know where to start. This program removes all the guesswork and friction so you can take action fast.

The 5 Challenges Every BNI Chapter Faces
1
Finding new visitors to invite
2
Turning visitors into members
3
Actually reaching out to people you know
4
Getting referrals from other members
5
Giving referrals to other members

πŸ”΄ Stage 1 β€” Directional (Completed)

The starting point. Direction and overall approach were reviewed and confirmed. That feedback is reflected in this Stage 2 draft.

🟑 Stage 2 β€” Draft (Current)

A full working draft with most of the content in place, including Training Videos, Chapter Campaigns, and Leadership Resources. Review it in detail, suggest improvements, and confirm it's heading in the right direction.

🟒 Stage 3 β€” Final

The near-complete version. Only small tweaks needed. Review fine details and confirm everything meets your expectations before sign-off.

πŸ’‘ Your job right now (Stage 2): Review the full draft β€” including the new Training Videos, Chapter Campaigns, and Leadership Resources tabs. Is anything missing, unclear, or off-target? Use the Feedback button at the top to share your thoughts β€” it goes directly to the Higgins team 24/7.

πŸš€ How the Program Works β€” Simple Summary
1

Create a Growth Plan

Figure out who your chapter needs and make a clear plan to go get them. Stop guessing β€” start building.

2

Review Your Contact Sphere

Identify people you already know who would be a great fit. When you invite them, bring a chapter member along as a built-in referral partner β€” this makes them way more likely to show up.

3

Fill Empty Seats

See which business types your chapter is missing. Get matched with the best person to help invite each one.

4

Re-Invite Past Visitors

People who visited before are warm leads. Reach back out β€” they already know you're great.

5

Advanced Prospecting

Once the warm leads are exhausted, find new prospects specifically matched to your chapter's needs.

6

Better One-on-One Meetings

Use a structured 4-phase meeting format so every one-to-one ends with real commitments β€” not just good conversations.

πŸ’‘ The Bottom Line

This program removes the friction between wanting to grow and actually growing. Every message is pre-written. Every step is clear. You just show up and take action.

Program Steps β€” How It Works
Six steps that take your chapter from guesswork to predictable, sustainable growth.

Step 1 β€” Generating & Ratifying Your Chapter Growth Plan

A growth plan transforms a chapter from a collection of individuals into a coordinated team. Without one, growth is a hope and a prayer. With one, it's predictable and measurable.

  • Members get clarity on which contact spheres matter and which seats are empty
  • Visitors get a better experience β€” they arrive pre-connected to the right people
  • Leadership has leverage β€” everyone works toward the same goals
  • Referrals flow because members stay more engaged and take more action

Step 2 β€” Contact Sphere Review

We map your natural contacts based on your classification and what your chapter needs. The game-changer: the Connection Multiplier β€” when you invite someone, bring a relevant chapter member as a built-in referral partner.

  • Auto-generated contact sphere profiles based on your classification
  • Priority ranking β€” who should you talk to first?
  • Add your own contacts and notes on the fly
  • Cross-member visibility β€” spot warm introduction opportunities
  • Example: Invite a painter, copy your roofing member. The painter sees an instant referral partner waiting. Attendance goes way up.

Step 3 β€” Missing Classifications (Empty Seats)

Every chapter has gaps β€” business types that should be there but aren't. See all of them at once and get matched with the best member to help fill each one.

  • See all empty seats on one screen β€” nothing hidden
  • Add status notes: "I know someone," "Will reach out tomorrow," etc.
  • AI matches each gap to the member best positioned to help
  • Pre-drafted email, call, and text outreach β€” ready to send
  • Your prospect doesn't walk in cold β€” they're already connected

Step 4 β€” Re-Inviting Previous Visitors

People who visited before didn't forget you β€” life just got busy. A timely re-engagement often brings them back. These are your warmest leads.

  • See everyone who visited in the last 6 months with full details
  • Any member can reach out β€” not just the original inviter
  • Loop in the original inviter to keep relationships intact
  • Pre-written email, phone script, and SMS in any language

Step 5 β€” Advanced Prospecting in Your Region

Reserved for after Stage 1 activities are exhausted. Prospects are sourced specifically for your chapter based on missing classifications and geographic area β€” not generic vendor lists.

  • Targeted to your chapter's specific gaps
  • Local vendors within your area
  • Dedicated deep-dive session scheduled separately
  • All outreach templated and ready to go

Step 6 β€” One-to-One Meeting Planner

Members with 5–7 active contact sphere partners doing regular structured one-to-ones see exponential referral growth β€” not linear. This 4-phase framework makes every meeting count.

1

Ideal Client & Industry (15 min)

Tell each other exactly who you want to work with. Write it down. Read it back.

2

Campaign Seasons & Opportunities (15 min)

What's your busy season? Pick one thing and agree on one concrete step in the next 30 days.

3

Triggers & Buzzwords (15 min)

Share the exact phrases that signal a referral for you. Put their 3 phrases in your phone after the meeting.

4

Referral Plan & Commitments (15 min)

Commit to ONE specific referral. Book your next one-to-one before you leave β€” no "let's do this again sometime."

Chapter Campaigns
The Higgins team actively helps your chapter grow β€” here's how, and how to get started.

🀝 We're Always Looking for New Ways to Support Your Chapter

Chapter Campaigns is the actively-managed side of AskBNI-Higgins. Instead of just handing you tools, our team does the work with you on specific events, pushes, and requests. Here are three ways we help:

1

Any BNI Event/Campaign/Request

Whatever the event, campaign, or request β€” a Visitor Day, a member drive, a special promotion, or anything else your chapter needs β€” we automatically email past visitors from the last 12 months about it. We'll share the template email with you, and Higgins tailors it to each visitor's profession. You just give us the event, campaign, or request details β€” we handle the rest and send you status updates weekly.

2

Best-Seat Recruitment Lists

We supply the list of the best seats to fill based on your current Higgins chapter assessment. The interactive list on your chapter report includes the email invite and who should send it β€” an extended version of the Missing Classifications view already in your chapter report. You can post the list to Facebook, or share the link we provide so anyone logged into Higgins can view it directly.

3

Ready-to-Invite Prospects

We can also supply prospects β€” we have thousands ready to go β€” that you can use to invite visitors to your event.

The Accelerator Program β€” Forming Chapter Playbook
Launching new BNI chapters in white space markets.

🌱 What is white space? Regions grow BNI by planting new chapters where none exist today β€” "white space." The Accelerator Program is the Higgins-supported process a Region, its Launch Director, and the Higgins team follow together to find that white space, identify the right professions to recruit, locate and invite real prospects, and carry a group of founding members through to a Forming Chapter Report and, ultimately, a chartered chapter.

This playbook walks through the five steps of the Accelerator Program, who owns each step, and where to go for support along the way.

πŸ—ΊοΈ The Five-Step Accelerator Process, At a Glance

πŸ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1 β€” Identify White Space and Target Classifications

The Region starts by identifying white space β€” geographic areas with no active BNI chapter, or areas where an existing chapter has room to grow into a second chapter. White space can be found using BNI Global territory and membership data, Higgins Reports (such as a Regional footprint or classification-gap dashboard), or other regional growth reports the Region already maintains.

Once a target area is identified, the Region selects the classifications and professions it most wants to recruit there β€” the seats that will make the future chapter's contact spheres strong from day one (for example, a mortgage broker, a CPA, a commercial insurance agent, and a general contractor for a chapter anchored in real estate and construction referrals).

  • Confirm the territory: Region reviews BNI Global territory maps and existing chapter footprints to confirm the area is genuine white space.
  • Set the target list: Region selects the priority classifications for the new chapter based on the local business mix and existing chapter gaps nearby.
  • Request Higgins support: if the Region does not have the internal data or bandwidth to do this analysis itself, the Higgins Team can run the white space and classification-gap analysis on request β€” just reach out to support@higgins.ai.

Step 2 β€” Higgins Researches Local Prospects

With a target area and classification list in hand, the Higgins Team goes to work identifying real, local businesses that fit those classifications. Each prospect β€” business name, contact person where available, phone, email, website, and address β€” is added to the Regional Prospects PURES Report, the Region's running list of every vetted prospect across its white space and existing-chapter territory.

The PURES Report tracks a verification status (fully verified, partially verified, or not yet verified) and a priority tier for every prospect, so the Launch Director always knows which contacts are the strongest bet for an initial invitation and which still need a confirming call before outreach.

  • Local and relevant: Vendors outside the agreed radius or that don't genuinely match the requested classification are excluded β€” quality and fit over volume.
  • No fabricated data: No invented names, numbers, or addresses. Anything that can't be confirmed is marked accordingly rather than guessed at.
  • Living document: the Regional Prospects PURES Report grows and updates continuously as new white space areas are added or reprioritized.

Step 3 β€” Find and Invite Prospects

The Launch Director β€” or a designate appointed by the Region β€” takes ownership of outreach. Using Higgins and Hal, the Higgins AI outreach assistant, the Launch Director works through the Regional Prospects PURES Report to identify the best-fit prospects for the new chapter and reach out with a personal invitation to visit or attend a launch event.

If the Launch Director wants additional support reaching prospects at scale β€” email sequences, SMS, and follow-up cadences β€” the Region can request a Higgins Campaign at bnicampaign.higgins.business.

  • Hal assists: Hal helps the Launch Director prioritize who to contact first, draft outreach, and keep track of who has responded.
  • Higgins Campaign (optional): a structured, done-for-you outreach sequence the Higgins team can run on the Region's behalf when extra reach or consistency is needed.
  • Stay compliant: BNI is described to prospects as a structured relationship and referral marketing organization β€” outreach should never promise specific results or referral volume.

Step 4 β€” Collect Invitations and Applications

Prospects who respond are moved into the formal pipeline: the invite form (using the startup / forming-chapter version of the form) captures their interest and visit details, and the membership application form lets them apply quickly once they've experienced a meeting or launch event.

Keeping this step simple and fast matters β€” the easier it is for an interested prospect to say "yes" and apply, the more founding members the Region secures before momentum fades.

  • Invite form: visitor registration / startup invite form, tailored for a forming chapter rather than an established one.
  • Application form: the standard BNI membership application, used to formally bring a founding member on board.
  • Track everything: the Launch Director tracks who has been invited, who has visited, and who has applied so no interested prospect is dropped.

Step 5 β€” Build the Forming Chapter Report

Once at least three members have applied, the chapter has reached the threshold where the Higgins Team generates a Forming Chapter Report built specifically for this group. Rather than reporting on an established chapter's performance, this report is geared toward the tasks a forming chapter still needs to complete: mapping out the contact spheres the founding members already cover, spotlighting the classifications still needed to round out the group, and organizing the work of gathering enough committed members to schedule a charter / launch date.

From here, the Region, Launch Director, and founding members use the Forming Chapter Report the same way an established chapter uses its ongoing Higgins dashboards β€” as the working tool that guides who to recruit next and how the founding members can start referring to each other before the chapter officially opens.

  • Contact spheres: mapped from the founding members already on board.
  • Remaining classification gaps: the same classification-gap thinking from Step 1, now applied to the real founding group instead of the target list.
  • Path to launch: a working checklist for growing from 3 members toward a chartering group.

πŸ“Š What Actually Drives Growth

Members with 5–7 active contact sphere partners conducting regular one-to-one meetings with structured call-to-actions see exponential referral growth β€” not linear. It spikes once you hit that threshold. That's the benchmark this platform is built to help you reach.

Terminology Guide
Plain-English definitions for every term used in the AskBNI-Higgins Accelerator Program.
BNI (Business Network International)
A global organization where business professionals meet weekly to share referrals and grow their businesses through structured networking.
Chapter
Your local BNI group β€” the team of business professionals you meet with each week.
Referral
When one member recommends another member's business to someone they know. This is the core goal of BNI.
Givers Gain
BNI's core philosophy: if you help others get business, they'll help you get business in return.
Contact Sphere
A group of related businesses that naturally refer to each other. For example: a realtor, mortgage broker, home inspector, and interior designer all serve the same customer.
Classification / Seat
Each member holds a specific business type "seat" in the chapter. BNI allows only one member per classification (e.g., one accountant, one real estate agent).
Missing Classification
A business type that isn't represented in your chapter yet β€” an open seat that could be filled by a new member.
Visitor
A guest who attends a BNI chapter meeting but is not yet a member. Visitors are potential future members.
One-to-One (1-2-1)
A private meeting between two BNI members where they get to know each other's business better and find ways to refer each other.
Connection Multiplier
A strategy where, when you invite a visitor, you also involve a relevant chapter member who can immediately offer that visitor a referral relationship β€” making attendance much more appealing.
Co-Introducer
The chapter member who is brought into an invitation alongside you because they naturally complement the prospect's business.
Chapter Growth Plan
A written strategy that identifies which seats need to be filled, who should fill them, and how members will work together to recruit and grow the chapter.
PALMS
A BNI tracking system measuring Participation, Attendance, Leads (referrals), Members, and Sales β€” key metrics for chapter health.
Power of One
A BNI concept where each member commits to one of each activity per week: one referral, one visitor, one one-to-one, etc.
Trigger Phrase
A specific phrase or situation that signals a referral opportunity for a fellow member. E.g., "I'm thinking about redoing my kitchen" is a trigger for a contractor.
Stage 1 β€” Directional
The first version of a Higgins report. It's meant to confirm the overall direction and approach before deeper work begins.
Stage 2 β€” Draft
A full working draft of the report with most content in place. The client reviews and suggests improvements.
Stage 3 β€” Final
The near-complete, polished version of the report. Only fine-tuning is needed before sign-off.
Advanced Prospecting
The process of finding brand-new potential members from outside your existing network, targeted specifically to your chapter's missing classifications and geographic area.
Visitor Re-Engagement
Reaching back out to someone who visited your chapter in the past but didn't join. These are warm leads β€” they already know and like your chapter.
